Colin H. McCann, 38, had been ordered released by a judge pending trial after borough detectives arrested him last month for the DPW thefts, as well as a Doremus Avenue burglaries, thefts from unlocked vehicles and thefts of bicycles.
Police said they recovered one of the stolen public works vehicles -- but with thousands of dollars of tools missing.
McCann was sent to Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus and later was ordered released pending further court action on several charges.
Glen Rock Detective Sgt. James Calaski and Detective Lucas Doney arrested McCann again last Thursday while investigating a series of May 22-23 thefts from unlocked vehicles on Boulevard and Bradford Street, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said Monday.
Police sent McCann to the Bergen County jail on charges that include burglary, theft and credit card fraud.
A judge, again, ordered him McCann released less than 24 hours later pending further court action.
